Aim: This course gives participants in the wider children’s workforce the essential information and understanding they need to recruit safely and thereby help protect children from harm. Participants gain the skills they need to ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of their recruitment decisions.
Who is it for? It is suitable for anyone who recruits, including being involved in staff selection of people to work with children and young people in settings other than education.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.
- Be aware of policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse and ensure reporting structures are robust.
- Critically review organisation policies and practices in recruitment with a view to creating a safer culture
