Background

Back Basics is an approach that has been developed and successfully used with communities and partners in Hampshire using the 5 Ways of Wellbeing since 2020. It is a simple way to help parents, carers and families make small changes to improve children and family’s health, wellbeing and outcomes.

“Helping families to make small steps to lead happier and healthier lives”

The success of Back to Basics is based on all organisations using a common and simple language with families to empower and strengthen their skills and confidence. We are aware that there are growing pressures on services, so it is crucial to note that Back to Basics is not a new initiative that you are being asked to deliver. Back to Basics is a helpful and simple approach with a set of tools to support your staff teams to support families. Your organisation has the autonomy to use Back to Basics in a way that best meets the needs of the families you work with.

Aim: To raise awareness and understanding of the Back to Basics approach among the children’s workforce, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to support and encourage families in promoting wellbeing through the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.
